 "Not bad at all!!" 2009-02-17
By E. R (JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA USA)
I purchased my Deluxe shopping cart over 3 months ago, I desperately needed an cart to transfer my groceries and 5 gallon bottle of water. I am pleased with the cart, It certainly can carry all of the above and more. Unfortunately, I cannot give it a 5 star because I hate the clips that are used to fasten the wheels, make sure you get all 4 springs for the wheels or they will just fall off, I don't think they believe in washers and screws. Also it is almost impossible to turn the cart the more weight you put in it, you have to take wide turns. All in all, it is a good cart and very handy. Normally I have it stack from base to top and tie grocery bags on the handle

Pleased with this cart. Sturdy. I use it for carrying groceries from garage to elevator to condo. It holds a lot of "stuff." The only drawback is the wheels. Made in China, so we don't know what they're made of. But they have an extremely strong chemical smell to them. In all candor, the smell is unhealthy and will seep throughout your apt/home.

No way do you want to "store" it in a living space. I'd consider that dangerous to one's health. Plan on storing it in a garage or balcony. You will NOT wish to live with it. Other than that, it's a very solid investment.

 "Fantastic!" 2008-08-31
By Perilous Moo (United States)
I live in the Los Angeles area, and recently found myself without a vehicle. I decided that due to several reasons (foremost being financial!), I would not purchase another car, at least for the time being, but be one of those rare and wondrous individuals who actually walk and rely on public transit in LA.

I'm from New York. In New York, we pretty much walk everywhere and shopping carts such as these are ubiquitous. My family was never without one; indeed, we had no less than three, and all of them were used heavily and regularly. So imagine my surprise when I came to the decision that I needed one a few weeks ago and there were none to be found!

Not only were there none to be found, but nobody even knew what the heck I was talking about when I asked in stores around the area. They all looked at me like I was nuts. Target folks repeatedly insisted that they do not sell the shopping carts they use in-store and kept directing me toward the luggage areas. Even when I showed them the shopping carts Target sells on their own website, they had no idea what I was talking about. I already have a strong and deep-rooted dislike of Los Angeles; this did nothing to improve that attitude.

In frustration, I decided to turn to Amazon.com and within moments had found this cart. While it's about $20 more expensive than it really needs to be, it was just what I was looking for - nice and sturdy, high weight capacity (for lugging all that water you have to buy in this town since anything out of the tap tastes like it came from a sewer), good, solid-looking rubber wheels, and a nice cushioned handle. I thought the colour was awesome, too - the only carts we ever had back home were silver!

It finally arrived a couple days ago and I was surprised to see that the main bar that makes up the handle portion (from the front wheels up and around to the handle) were actually square and not round in shape - this was something new to me, but no big deal, of course - and felt a little less sturdy right out of the box than I was expecting. For a cart that is supposed to have a 250-pound weight capacity, I just expected something that had a much more solid feel to it, that's all.

But as I handled it, putting the wheels on it and turning it about, flipping it over and opening and closing it, I realized that the very first impression I had was mistaken - this is a nicely built cart. It's sturdier than it felt out of the box, especially once the wheels were on it. It has a small latch on the back side that hooks over the front bars when the cart is folded, to prevent it from unfolding unexpectedly; however, it stays closed on its own when you lean it against a wall, even with the cart liner in it (which unfortunately renders that handy latch unusable).

The wheels were a cinch to put on, and I especially like the springs that are a part of the assembly; I can see how they will make excellent stabilizers and shock absorbers. The wheels are very sturdy indeed, solid rubber around nice, thick, almost solid plastic. The cotter pins were hilariously slender, but once the wheels were put on, I was satisfied that they would do the job and that thicker ones would probably not be necessary after all. After reading the comments about the cotter pins on the other reviews for this exact cart in different colour categories, I was slightly concerned. Once I finished putting the wheels on, the concerns I had vanished. They are perfectly adequate for the job.

The foam around the handle is nice and squingy and cushions the bar very well. The wheels roll effortlessly and smoothly, and at least while empty the cart rolls equally as well whether you're pushing it from behind or pulling it from ahead. That's not something you can say about every four-wheeled cart.

The cart is a good size and will be able to handle the shopping I need to do. Though it's not gone on any longer distance trips with me yet, I feel very secure in its durability. If it fell apart on me, I'd be completely shocked - it just doesnt look or feel flimsy enough to do that.

There was a very strong odor to the wheels when the cart was first unpacked, but it dissipated in 24 hours. It's just from the wheels, and being packed in the box until someone bought it. I put the thing together, wheeled it around a bit, installed the liner and leaned it against the wall and by the next day the odor was totally gone. So that shouldnt be a problem for anyone. I was going to store it outside the first night just to air it out a little more quickly, but things here in this town get so filthy so fast because of all the smog and gunk in the air that overnight it would have already been coated with dust and grime, so I just kept it inside and it wasn't an issue.

I have yet to use it for any kind of heavy-duty use that would bring it to near capacity, but this cart is exactly what I was looking for and so far, I'm very happy with it. I'd recommend very highly it to anyone who needs a cart to help carry their groceries, laundry, or anything else that's too big to carry without assistance. You won't believe you got along without it.

I'm still in complete shock that so many people never knew this kind of item existed - after reading a lot of reviews here on Amazon, it seems that not only Angelinos were unaware of them! I just find that hilarious and bizarre. I urge you to pick one of these things up if you find yourself griping about having to carry heavy items, whether it's for groceries or camping equipment, laundry or trips to the beach. You'll LOVE it, and you'll laugh at yourself, too, for not getting one sooner!

I'm now finally going to be able to go to the store and get what I need without having to deal with physically carrying a bunch of heavy bags in the blistering heat of the LA sun. This thing has made my life about a million times easier, and I've barely used it yet. It's just so nice to have one again, I'm completely thrilled. It's funny how something so ordinary can make such a huge difference.

I'm sure that I'll get stopped on the street and in the store by people wanting to know where I got such a mysterious contraption. When that happens, I'll send them to Amazon.com!
